After years of focusing on SUVs and premium electric vehicles, Renault decided to add a touch of nostalgia. The Twingo from the 90s is back, now in an electric version, and aims to be the most affordable electric car in Europe. The French brand states that the electric Twingo will have a starting price of 20,000 euros, which is an bold move, considering the EV market is dominated by more expensive models produced in Slovenia, the car will feature Chinese-made LFP batteries, known for their durability and lower cost with this launch, Renault seeks to regain ground lost to Chinese brands and to strengthen and popularize its line of EVs. The design retains the urban and fun style of the original model, but with a modern and technological touch the new Twingo is set to hit the market in 2026, promising affordability for those in need of a compact, efficient electric car at a budget-friendly price.
