BMW has expanded its electric lineup with the i3 eDrive35L, a fully electric version of the classic 3 Series, produced initially for the Chinese market. The model represents the brand’s gradual shift toward electrification in one of its most established segments, keeping the familiar executive-sedan character that defines the 3 Series.

Visually, the i3 closely follows the design of its combustion-engine counterpart, with only subtle changes most notably, the absence of exhaust pipes. Inside, it maintains BMW’s refined finish and introduces some sustainable materials in line with the brand’s current direction.

With around 282 hp and a range of up to 500 km (under the CLTC cycle), the i3 eDrive35L offers balanced performance within its class. Rather than aiming for radical innovation, it shows BMW’s pragmatic approach to electrification — adapting its most traditional model to new technologies while preserving the driving comfort and understated sportiness that define the 3 Series.
